Diverse is who I am
As I sit here typing, I can’t see the letters on the screen. My vision has gotten worse over the past few days. I see less than what I did a month ago,
All that doesn’t really seem to matter as much anymore. When I stand on the stage next week, they won’t really care what I can see. Oh, they may care, but they’ll never be able to understand what I could see 11 years ago versus what I saw 1 smooth ago versus what I see today.
I just have to keep figuring out ways around some of the obstacles that are being thrown my way.
Like the driving obstacle. I was fortunate enough to have that remedied by the Central Ohio Transit Authority with the Mainstream bus.
Now, I need to find a way around the next obstacle.
Yes, my issues may be different from yours, but you still have issues. There are still some things that you’re trying to overcome. You may need to overcome them to realize your dream. I’m guessing you haven’t given up on your dreams. They are another thing that makes us diverse.
In reality, we’re all diverse. Yes, there are some who have struggled with this much more than I have.
I remember one of the first times, I drove after being blind for six months. Even after a rigorous training program to get back on the road, I was still nervous as hell when I’d pull up to a traffic light. I’d look all around me. If I saw a cop anywhere close, I instantly panicked. I thought for sure they were going to find me out.
Life is turning out the way it was meant to turn out. Sorry for the random thoughts. Just trying to capture this moment.
