Starting to list

Starting to list? Not a list as in a shopping list. Not a list as in a naughty list.
Not a list in the sense of a noun, but in the sense of a verb.
It was during a long run on Saturday. The first 5 or 6 miles were fine, but then I started to have a little trouble. It was a bad decision not to bring any water. 🙁 (That’ll need to be corrected in the future)
Running was not so natural any more. Much like a ship on the ocean that was out of balance, I started to list. I tried my best but no matter how hard I tried, while I ran, I continued to fade off to the right. Weird. So, after 8 miles I stopped running and walked to the closest spot for water. Once I was hydrated and walked a mile, I started to run again. One more mile and I was back to where I started.
When you start to list what do you do? Not that you ever have the feeling that I did on Saturday, but what about those times that no matter how hard you try you just can’t get back to dead center.
While you continue to head off of the beaten path, you need to remind yourself that you’re not going where you had hoped. You’re not going where you had intended and you’re not sure how you’re going to get back. Maybe it’s time to stop the “bleeding” and get back on track. Reassess the situation. Determine what you’re going to need for the “long run” and make the proper amendments.
I know that you have it in you. Just take your time.
As a biker told me at Mile #6, “you got this!”
