The importance of vision – episode #2

We’re all struggling with the global pandemic.
Here, in my state, the Governor has lifted his ‘stay at home” order. Which means we’re free, right? It doesn’t take long of being outside of your home to realize that we are not free. Everything has changed. We can’t shake hands, hug or even talk to anyone that’s not six feet away from us. Even then we have to have a mask on!
How can you be fully in this moment and still have a positive attitude?
How can you still smile? Where does your positive attitude come from?
The answer is the same as when I asked myself, “how do I stop comparing myself to other people?”
The answer is to focus on your vision. This is why vision is so important.
It answers questions that you might not have even asked yourself.
Will this ever stop? When, and if, it does stop – what then?
Knowing your vision allows you to see your preferred future. Not just your physical future, but also your spiritual and emotional future.
Knowing your vision allows your brain to form neural pathways that help you focus on that future. It’s similar to buying a car. Once you start looking at cars, all you see on the road are other cars similar to yours.
Once you can clearly write your vision, life will deliver what you need to make your vision a reality.
Nine years ago, my vision was to help other people. “But Brian you don’t have a degree or certification for that.” “Brian, how are you doing to provide for your family?” “How are you going to put your kids through college?” Those questions will be answered over time.
That vision quickly focused into how I can help other people as a speaker. That focus led me to my company vision. The vision is to help others embrace their own personal blindness to achieve a greater vision for their lives.
During the pandemic, some are drawn to a role of servanthood.
My servanthood involves serving those that given me the privilege of their attention.
As Zig Ziglar used to say, “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.”
The next question is, “how do you know what your vision is and what do you want?”
